Alongside my academic perspective on the cognitive and cultural-evolutionary foundations of music, I engage in sustained active music-making.
As an amateur choral musician, I regularly perform a broad classical repertoire—both a cappella and large choral-orchestral settings—with several ensembles in Austria and Italy. These currently include:
Wiener Domchor, singing within the long tradition of liturgical choral music at one of Vienna’s most iconic institutions, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, with regular concerts also in other venues such as the Musikverein.
Augustinerkirchechor, contributing to a regular programme of concerts in the Augustinian Church and elsewhere in Vienna.
Collegium Musicum Almae Matris, where I take part in a programme of secular and sacred music performed in regular concerts and at formal academic events of the University of Bologna.
Beyond choral singing, I play piano and guitar in informal and private settings, enjoying collaborative music making with friends and colleagues across genres and contexts.
I am continually inspired by the ways active performance enriches my research and teaching, shaping how I think about music, its expression in the mind, and its place within culture.
